MEMBERSHIP
Membership in the Iowa Chapter is $72.00 per calendar
year. Membership dues can
be paid by payroll deduct for IWD employees. Choosing this
option cost $6.00 per month.
EDUCATION
Education plays an important role in the association's
objectives by promoting and improving the competence,
knowledge and motivation of persons who operate and
administer employment, unemployment, training and related
programs. Chapter institutes and conventions also provide
an educational experience for the membership. These
include the annual State Meeting, District X meetings, and
several zone meetings each year.
The International
association offers the PDP (Professional Development
Program) to any person interested in learning more about
the profession. IAWP membership is not an enrollment
requirement, although members do receive lower prices.
PDP is a series of
self-study guides and corresponding examinations hat
result in professional designations at three
levels-Generalist, Specialist and Master. PDP deals only
with United States programs for Employment and Training
Systems, (Unemployment Insurance) Tax and Benefits, and
Labor Market Information. There are three Specialists
designations-ETS, TBS, and LMIS. The Generalist
designation must be attained as a prerequisite to the
Specialist. The Master designation is awarded only when
all PDP exams are completed successfully.
PDP's versatile design
offers great flexibility for use in training programs,
orientation and other innovative educational initiatives.
The International
Association sponsors two grant programs-the LSC (Logan S.
Chambers) Individual Scholarship and the WSB (W. Scott
Boyd) Group Grant. Both programs are named for former IAWP
executive directors, and both are available for IAWP
membership or programming that meets specific criteria.
Brochures, which include grant applications, are available
for each program.
NETWORKING OPPORUNITIES
By becoming a member of the Iowa Chapter of IAWP and
attending institutes, a member has an opportunity to meet
and share ideas with other members who do the same kind of
work that they do. This affords a wonderful opportunity to
see how others handle and deal with the same day to day
challenges that they face.
